Panorama view looking East to Pier Avenue down the lit up palm tree lined Hermosa Beach Promenade at Night. Shot in December 1997 this was the first panorama photograph made of the new HB Promenade.
'Hermosa Beach Promenade Night'
The city of Hermosa Beach, CA completed its Pier Avenue Streetscape and dedicated the new 'Palm-lined Promenade' in October of 1997. In early December '97 I set out to shoot the first panorama and night photograph of the new HB Promenade. I went down at sunset and after deciding where to shoot from I then set up my 8ft ladder and my Fuji617 Panorama camera, loaded a roll of film (4 shots on a 120 roll) and waited for darkness and things to be right. When the natural and artificial lighting balanced out I pressed the shutter.
Today this scene has changed, Either-Or bookstore is gone as is Cantina Real and other buildings and businesses.
